Dr. Monday Igwe has been reappointed as the Medical Director of the Federal Neuropsychiatric hospital in Enugu, with the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Ahmadu Chindaya, the Federal Ministry of Health’s deputy director of media and public relations, indicated in a statement on Monday that the re-appointment was for a second and final term of four years, beginning on 1 April 2023.
The re-appointment notice, according to the statement, was delivered in a letter signed by the Minister of State for Health, Hon. Joseph Ekumankama, who also gave the document to the employee at a brief ceremony held at the Federal Ministry of Health’s Abuja headquarters.
In his remarks, Ekumankama urged Dr. Igwe to build on his prior successes, make the hospital a better place, and leave an admirable legacy of advancement in order to repay the trust placed in him.
In addition, he urged him to fix whatever mistakes he might have made during his first term in government. “Don’t wait until you have four years to plan and implement; get started right away to ensure that whatever mistakes you may have made in the previous four years won’t be repeated.
“Now is the time to actualize all the hopes, goals, and visions that you weren’t able to realize during your first term in office.”
The Minister further warned him to maintain good relations with all parties, particularly the hospital’s board and administration, in order to create a climate that would enable him to carry out his duties. The Minister noted that no one flourishes in hostile environments.
“Please expedite the process of achieving more and stay committed to doing good,” he added. Make every effort to guarantee that the hospital is far better when you depart than it is now.
In his response, Dr. Igwe thanked the President and the Ministry of Health for recognizing his qualifications for reappointment.
He pledged to build on his successes and stated that, rather than serving as the hospital’s CEO, he would serve as a servant leader who would oversee hospital operations.
I’ll keep having an open door policy and being reachable by everyone. He vowed that he “would make more sacrifices to see that the hospital is brought to greater heights.
He complimented the President for giving the health sector such high importance during his administration.
