President Muhammadu Buhari voiced optimism on Monday that the incoming government of President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu would maintain the great trajectory attained during his own tenure by continuing to provide essential assistance to the Nigerian Navy.
Buhari expressed his extreme delight with the variety of naval assets on display and the combat readiness of the Nigerian military at the Presidential Fleet Review, which was potentially the last in his capacity as President and Commander-in-Chief and was held at the Naval Dockyard Limited, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The President acknowledged the nation’s pride in the Navy’s great accomplishments throughout his eight-year presidency and said:
“I have no doubt that the incoming administration of President-elect, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will sustain the current tempo of my administration in giving the Navy the necessary support to effectively carry out its assigned tasks.
“ONWARD TOGETHER and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
Buhari said he was confident Tinubu will lead the Navy to continue acquiring new equipment, expanding shipbuilding for export, promoting indigenous manufacturing, stepping up the battle against piracy, and addressing challenges relating to crude oil theft in Nigeria’s maritime domain.
