Los Angeles, California: The late Michael Jackson’s brother Jermaine is reportedly (“stuck”) in Africa after his U.S passport expired and it looks like it won’t be renewed unless he pays back child support (owed in the U.S), according to TMZ.
The third oldest sibling of the Jackson family is in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, Africa with an expired passport. He reportedly can’t renew it until he pays more than $91,000 in child support, reports the celebrity news website.
Ex-wife Alejandra Genevieve Oaziaza, who is the mother of two of his sons, Jaafar and Jermajesty, filed for a child support order in May 2008, requiring him to pay $3,000 a month. Oaziaza and the children currently live at Michael’s estate with the rest of the family.
When anyone owes a significant amount of money in back child support, a California law requires that the federal government be notified and the person is blocked from getting a new passport.
It is not known yet if the American Embassy in Burkina Faso has intervened, but it often issues temporary papers so that the person can return to the states. But instead of waiting for a check, Jermaine’s ex-wife should be more worried about where she’s going to live next.
Executers of the singer’s estate have begun legal proceedings last week in Los Angeles to have Oaziaza and her children removed from the family mansion.
